HFCS Drama Club To Perform Disney’s Beauty And The Beast
In just four weeks, the Hoosick Falls Central School’s Drama Club will be performing Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and like many musicals in the past, it is offered as free entertainment to people of all ages. The performances are on Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, beginning at 7 pm, with the final performance on Sunday, March 24, at 2 pm. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the intermission in the cafeteria.
The movie and musical have won many awards and have several unforgettable songs and moments. Lumiere (the candelabra) sings the show-stopping “Be Our Guest” and Mrs. Potts sings the eternal and Oscar winning “Beauty and the Beast” while Belle and Beast dance together. The music is wonderful, and the performance promises to be full of laughs and tears. This promises to be an enormous show, with over 60 middle and high school students involved in the production, along with several elementary students as well.

HFCS PTA Bingo
“Say it loud, Say it often!”
The HFCS PTA is pleased to host its annual “fun for the whole family” Family Fun Bingo on Saturday, March 9, from 9 to 11:30 am in the Hoosick Falls Junior-Senior High School cafeteria. Come one, come all – kids with their moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas join the fun. Play Bingo with your family and friends and win great prizes donated by many local vendors!
The PTA is pleased to have Jim Martinez, returning as Bingo caller at this increasingly popular event. Snacks and beverages will be served, and school spirit items will be for sale. Folks are also welcome to participate in the raffles. Don’t forget to bring your Box Tops for Education labels that help the school purchase supplies and equipment.

Next ADAPT Meeting
Parents/guardians of HFCS juniors interested in joining ADAPT – the alcohol and drug-abuse prevention team responsible for planning and hosting a safe, substance-free, after-prom activity for the HFCS junior class and their guests – are encouraged to attend the next meeting on Monday, March 11, at 6:30 pm, in the HFCS Elementary School Library. Weierbach Crowned State Champ; First Title In HF Wrestling History

Saturday mornings at the New York State Wrestling Championships is one of the most intense times of the high school wrestling season in the Empire State. One hundred twenty of the states best wrestlers in each division face off for their chance to go into the final round and a chance at one of the coveted fifteen State championships in each division. By this point the cream of the crop has risen to the top, and every match ended with celebrations of joy and tears of agony.

HFCS Grapples With Budget

The Hoosick Falls School District has presented a first draft of its budget for next year. The $21,688,253 budget shows total spending and total revenues both increasing by $704,171, which is 3.4%. The budget shows an increase in State Aid for operating expenses of $475,546, from $8,173,179 to $8,648,725, which is an increase of 5.8%.
It shows a tax levy increase of 4.55%, but Board President Greg Laurin assured the public that this number will be significantly lower by the time the budget is finalized.

Alice Hayden Signs Letter Of Intent With College Of St. Rose

At a ceremony in the cafeteria on Friday, February 15, Hoosick Falls Central School Jr./Sr. High Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Brett Lamy proudly announced that Senior Alice Hayden was signing a letter of intent to play soccer at the College of St. Rose in the fall. “This is a well deserved and significant milestone in her life, and we wish her well as she moves on to a higher education and higher level of competition,” he said. “St. Rose is a quality institution with a quality team,” he added.

Panthers Win Rematch With Mechanicville In Sectionals

The eleventh-seeded, Hoosick Falls Panthers Boys Basketball team traveled to Mechanicville to face the sixth-seeded Raiders, coached by Ryan Richardson, in a rematch of the 2012 Section II finals game. The last meeting saw the Raiders capitalize on Panther mistakes in the last seconds of the game to win Section II. HFCS Pops Concert
The HFCS Music Department will be presenting its annual Pops Concert on Thursday, February 28, at 7 pm in the Hoosick Falls Central School Auditorium. There is no charge for admission, and the public is invited to attend
The program will have something for everyone – patriotic tunes, movie soundtracks, Broadway songs and recent billboard hits. From Disney to Star Wars, from The Beatles to Taylor Swift, from Rocky to The Lord of the Rings – the evening promises to have you humming famous music from the past 50 years.
The performing groups are Mr. Connolly’s Elementary Chorus, Mrs. Yudkoff’s Junior Chorus and Senior Chorus, Mr. Allen’s Concert Band and Symphonic Band and Mr. Brown’s Jazz Band. Yudkoff’s groups are fresh off of a recent high profile and very successful performance at the Albany Pro Musica High School Choral Festival, and Brown’s Jazz Band has been performing regularly in many locations around the community. All groups have been working hard on their music and are ready to present a great concert on Thursday. We hope to see you there.
