HFCS Budget Still In The Works

A tentative State budget deal was reached only a day or two before the Hoosick Falls School Board’s March 21 meeting, so the budget has not changed much since the March 7 Budget Workshop. Superintendent Ken Facin said that although there seems to be more State aid coming, the District has “no clarity on State aid yet,” so the Board is aiming to get close to a final budget in time for the April 11 Budget Workshop.

HFCS Pre-Licensing Course
The NYS five hour pre licensing course, needed to obtain a NYS driver’s license, will be offered on Thursday, April 11, at the Hoosick Falls Central High School. Registration begins at 4:30 pm that evening in the High School office with the class following promptly at 5 pm. A valid learner’s permit and $35 correct cash or check is required. Please call Terri Burdick (518-686-9492, x1034) if you have any questions.
Classes on May 2 and June 13 will be the last two offered this school year.
The Next ADAPT Meeting Is April 8
Parents/guardians of HFCS juniors interested in joining ADAPT – the alcohol and drug-abuse prevention team responsible for planning and hosting a safe, substance free, after-prom activity for the HFCS junior class and their guests – are encouraged to attend the next meeting on Monday, April 8, at 6:30 pm, in the HFCS Elementary School Library. Plans are well underway for this year’s after-prom activities, and several fundraisers are taking place and being planned. Many hands make light work!
Beauty And The Beast For Free At HFCS

The HFCS Drama Club will present Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to the continuing support by the school, the Drama Club continues to offer free admission to every production.

WASAREN League 2012-13 Basketball All Stars
(as selected by League coaches)
Six Panther boys basketball players were named WASAREN League Boys Basketball All Stars for the 2012-13 season. Taylor Baker, a senior, and Evan Phillips, a senior, were named to the Second Team All Stars. Randy Tutunjian, a senior, Andrew Hoag, a sophomore, Austin Pitt, a sophomore, and Levi Brewster, a junior, received Honorable Mention.
Three HFCS girls basketball players were named WASAREN League Girls Basketball All Stars for the 2012-13 season. Frankie Pearson was named a First Team All Star. Rachel Pine and Carson Williams were named to the Second Team All Stars.
Beauty And The Beast At HFCS

The HFCS Drama Club is busy preparing for next week’s opening of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” a fantastic, funny and heartwarming tale for the whole family. And as in the past, the admission is free. The show will be performed on March 22 and 23 at 7 pm and March 24 at 2 pm.

The Panther Bowlers End Season

After the Hoosick Falls bowling team won the Section II C-D bowling tournament with a score of 5,822 pins, the Panthers had to wait until the seventeen A schools and twenty B schools bowled to see if they would have the highest overall total and go on and bowl at the New York State Bowling Tournament in Syracuse on March 2.
