Panther Boys Gain Sole Possession Of League Lead

January 17, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley

Friday evening’s game against the Hoosic Valley Indians was billed as a big game with two teams undefeated in league play and lead-in articles in all the major papers. Hoosic Valley was number three in the State rankings. One team was led by two high scorers and one team had scorers spread throughout the starting line-up. The game did not disappoint. Surprisingly, offense was not the highlight as defense stole the show in this game. The game ended with a 43 – 42 score, a season low for both teams.

HFCS Regents Exam Period

January 17, 2014 By eastwickpress

by Patrick Dailey, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

The Hoosick Falls Jr./Sr. High School will administer NYS Regents, mid-term and final exams on January 27, 28, 29 and 30. There will be no regularly scheduled classes for students in Grades 7-12 Monday through Thursday and no school for students in Grades UPK-12 on Friday. An in-service training day will take place for all teaching staff on Friday, January 31.

Regular morning bus transportation to school will be provided.  Return bus service will be provided at 11:45 am, 2:15 pm and 3:15 pm. There will be no 4:15 pm bus run.  The cafeteria will be open for breakfast each morning (7:25 to 8 am) and lunch (10:15 am to 12:15 pm)

Only students with scheduled exams should report to school when the exam is being offered. If a student reports to school during an exam session, am or pm, when she or he does not have a scheduled exam, review session or has prior permission from a teacher/administrator to be in the building, a consequence will be assigned. Students may come to school and report to the cafeteria to study before and/or after exams.  In the event a student misses his or her bus, she or he must report to the main office to contact his or her parents to come pick him or her up. Loitering on school grounds or “hanging out” will not be allowed. Students must report to the cafeteria if they have another exam to take during the afternoon session or are awaiting the next bus return service.

In the event that inclement weather occurs, all local mid-term and final exams taking place on that day will be postponed until Monday, February 3.  Alternately, NYS Regents and RCT Exams will still be administered at the prescribed times even on an official snow day.  Transportation cannot be provided by the District on a snow day.  It is the responsibility of the family or student to provide transportation and take the NYS Regents or RCT Exam on the day scheduled by New York State.

Panthers Lose To Mt. Anthony

The Panther boys basketball team traveled over to Bennington Saturday evening to face the Mt. Anthony Patriots. The Patriots jumped out to a 9 – 0 lead, but the Panthers slowly but surely made up  ground and were only down 28 – 25 at the half.
