In the first round of Sectional playoffs, the #2 seeded Lady Panthers shut down the #7 seeded Germantown Clippers. Playing at home, the Panthers started scoring five minutes into the game, then scored regularly throughout the rest of the contest. Germantown never got a shot.

The HFCS girls soccer team has been busy this past week adding wins to its total. In the sectional playoffs, the Ladies defeated Holy Names on Friday and, in an exciting, hard fought game, defeated Schuylerville this past Monday. Both games were held on the Panthers’ Delurey Field in Hoosick.

The Hoosick Falls Board of Education meeting began with Junior Class officers presenting information to the Board about their Prom, which is planned for May 16, 2015 at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom in Troy. They said it will cost about $50 per person, and the Board approved it.

History is being made at HFCS. Two sophomores, Liz Ryan and Ally Burdick, are close to becoming the two most prolific scorers in Panther field hockey history. The girls are chasing Brooke (Niles) Williams’ scoring record, set from 1982 to 1985, of 55 career goals.

The boys Panther soccer team played the Granville Golden Horde last Thursday. The game took place under the lights on the HFCS field after officials moved the scheduled afternoon game due to rain. It was Senior Night, and it couldn’t have worked out better for the seniors.

The Panther girls soccer team defeated Granville 8 – 0 last Friday when Jordyn Haynes scored three first half goals. Haynes was assisted by Angela Gonzalez, Taylor Mann and Rachel Pine. Gonzales, Pine and Heidi Bossoni also scored first half goals unassisted. Bossoni’s goal was her first varsity score.
This year’s PTA Fall Festival will be on Saturday, October 25, from 9 am to 3 pm at HFCS. Fall Festival has fun activities and games for kids including an old fashioned cake walk, the popular Animaland, Haunted Hall, and fabulous door prizes and raffle items. Back by popular demand is the clever and creative display of pumpkins decorated by HFCS teachers, where you vote for your favorite.
The HFCS Jazz Band will perform at 11 am and 1 pm. A Halloween theme movie for children will be screened in the elementary school cafeteria at 1 pm. In addition, the Lions Club is sponsoring free vision screening for children under the age of four and will have food on hand for sale.
