The HFCS lacrosse team is a “club,” meaning it cannot play any Section 2 member interscholastic team and all its contests are considered scrimmages. The team is maintained by the players’ and parents’ fund raising efforts only. The team had a 10 game schedule playing Massachusetts, Vermont and New York teams not recognized by Section 2.

HFCS Prelicensing Course
The NYS 5 hour Prelicensing Course is being offered at Hoosick Falls Central School on Thursday, June 10. Successful completion of the course is needed for obtaining a NYS driver’s license. A valid learner’s permit and $35 cash and is needed. Registration begins at 4:30 pm that evening in the High School office. Class begins promptly at 5 pm and is completed that evening. HFCS Be Smart, Be Safe Lesson Aired On Channel 13

HFCS Senior Girls received a powerful lesson on life in the outside world Wednesday, May 19, from Physical Education teacher Lisa Ferrannini and Health teacher Colleen Corcoran. Elaine Houston of Channel 13 television observed the session and put together a piece on it that aired Thursday evening, May 20, as part of her Today’s Women series. The HFCS Class of 2011 Junior Prom, entitled City Lights, began with the Grand March in the high school auditorium at 4 pm where the King, Queen and the Court were announced. Panther Softball Team Wins Heated Sectional Opener After Winning League Title

On Wednesday, May 26, Charlie Weeden’s Hoosick Falls Central School varsity softball team battled 95 plus degree heat in their Section 2, Class CC playoff opener against the Corinth Central School Tomahawks at the Adirondack Sports Complex but held on for a 3-0 quarterfinal win. HFCS PTA Book Fair
The Hoosick Falls Central School PTA will host a Scholastic Book Fair and ice cream social on June 2 from 6 to 8 pm in the elementary school cafeteria. The annual event is intended to increase literacy among students and raise funds to purchase books for the elementary school library. Families, teachers and the community are invited to attend the Book Fair, featuring a fun theme – Book Fair Diner: All You Can Read!

HFCS District Budget Passes By Big Margin

The mood at the Hoosick Falls School Board meeting Tuesday was celebratory after the voters of the Hoosick Falls School District passed the budget by a margin of better than 2 to 1. The tally was 528 yes to 224 no. The bus purchase proposition passed by a vote of 496 to 254. The Capital Reserve Fund proposition passed by a vote of 466 to 273.

The orchestra is always a special touch in these productions. The sets moved around on wheels by the actors was fascinating to watch – great dancing and singing!

Cornell Wrestling Team Visits HFCS
The Cornell University Wrestling Program will visit HFCS for a two day clinic on Saturday, June 12, and Sunday June 13. Regarded as one of the dominant programs in collegiate wrestling today, Cornell coaches and wrestlers will be working with local wrestlers in a hands-on clinic.
