The next business meeting of the HFCS PTA will take place on Wednesday, April 13, in the Elementary School Library beginning at 6:30 pm.
As always, members and non-members are encouraged to join meetings to find out what the PTA is doing for our children and to share ideas for special programs and events to benefit the children and families of our school district.

Texas Hold’em Tournament To Benefit ADAPT
On Saturday, April 23, ADAPT will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament fund-raiser with hosts Rick Ferrannini and Rick Tinkham at the North Hoosick Fire Department on Route 22 in North Hoosick. The doors will open at 12:30 pm for registration, and game play begins at 1 pm. No advance registration is required. Entry fee is $35, with $10 going to ADAPT. There will be a re-buy at 2:30 pm for $35 (with $10 going to ADAPT). Refreshments will be for sale, benefiting ADAPT; and 50% of a 50-50 raffle will also benefit ADAPT. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
The Hills Of Hoosick Falls Are Alive With The Sound of Music
The Hoosick Falls Central School Drama Club will be presenting Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic The Sound Of Music. Performances will be on Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, beginning at 7 pm, and Sunday, April 10, beginning at 2 pm. Admission is free.

HFCS Terminates Teacher

At its meeting on Thursday, March 17, the Hoosick Falls School Board passed a motion terminating the employment of Lawrence M. Haskell, Jr. effective March 18, 2011. The District brought charges against him alleging “misconduct, insubordination, incompetence and conduct unbecoming a teacher,” and three hearings were held before Hearing Officer John Trela in November and December of 2010. Trela rendered his decision March 7, and the Board is now acting based on his report.

ADAPT Bottle Drive April 2
ADAPT, the Alcohol Drug Abuse Prevention Team planning the substance-free after-prom celebration for the HFCS Class of 2012 and their guests, is hosting a bottle and can drive on Saturday, April 2, from 10 am to 2 pm in the parking lot of the Grand Union Family Market on Route 22 in Hoosick Falls. Or, bottles and cans may be delivered directly to Nickelback Redemption Center on Carey Avenue. Please be sure to mention that you want the proceeds to benefit ADAPT for the after-prom celebration.

HFCS Senior Class Basket Bingo
On Thursday, March 31, the Senior Class of Hoosick Falls Central School will be hosting Basket Bingo in the HFCS high school cafeteria. The event is scheduled to run from 7 to 9:30 pm with doors opening at 6 pm.

Battle Of The Belts
Hoosick Falls Central School is conducting its fifth annual Battle of the Belts competition on Friday, April 1, with a rain date of April 8.

Joe Wolfrum Represents Section II Bowlers In Syracuse
On Sunday, March 6, Joe Wolfrum, from Hoosick Falls Central School, bowled for the Section II team in Syracuse. The team finished in 7th place out of ten teams with a total score for six games of 5,600 pins, under difficult lane conditions.
