Art, Science and English Arts equals creative thinking at the Berlin Elementary School. Berlin students have been focusing on plants as a theme this year in art class, using plants as a point of departure to study elements and principles of design as well as integrating New York State Art learning standards.

BCS School Board Meeting Cancelled
The Berlin School Board meeting for Tuesday, March 19, was cancelled due to the snow. The Board has not yet decided on the makeup date.

The Berlin High School Drama Club presents the District-wide production of The Wizard Of Oz. Twenty-four Munchkins from Berlin Elementary School will sing and dance across the stage at Berlin High School on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16, at 7 pm.

Annual Pre-Musical Spaghetti Supper
On Saturday, March 16, the Berlin Class of 2013 will be serving spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread and butter, beverages and dessert in the MS/HS cafeteria from 4:30 until 7 pm. The cost of the dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under and senior citizens. Come for dinner and stay to see this year’s High School Drama Club production of The Wizard of Oz.
Contracts Awarded For BES Phase 1 Project

Even as the Berlin School Board failed, once again, to get a needed two-thirds super-majority vote that would allow the District to largely renovate the Berlin Elementary School, Phase 1 of a scaled down project is proceeding apace. Two contracts, one for window replacement and one for lead and asbestos abatement, were awarded at Tuesday’s monthly meeting with only Board Members John Nash and Alan Webster Jr. voting against the project. Nash and Webster Jr. also voted against the Bond Authorization that would have financed the full plan. Board Member Bev Stewart was absent.

The Berlin High School Art Department is proud to present a sample of student artwork to the Berlin Community. The Second Annual Student Art Show at the Berlin Free Town Library will run from March 6 to the 28th. The media featured will be drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and graphic arts.

Berlin Boys Volleyball Ends Its Season In Sectionals

Coach Paul Slaver said that while this year’s team had a lot of ups and downs, they were able to stick together and play as a team. This led to their season record of 7-5 overall which put them in second place in the Central Hudson Valley League.

Come To The Cabaret Saturday
The Cabaret will be held on Saturday, March 2, at 6 pm at the Berlin High School. The High School Band and Chorus will be performing music from Sinatra to Buble.
