It was a tough start for the Berlin Girls softball team with a couple of lopsided losses, but Coach Art Schmich’s charges have been working hard, and it’s starting to show. Dr. Stephen Young, Superintendent of the Berlin Central School District presented his “Superintendent’s Budget” at a “Round Table” meeting of the Berlin School Board. The Berlin Alumni are accepting applications for the Alumni Scholarship. Any Berlin Senior or graduate who has been accepted into a two or four year college may apply. The Berlin Mountaineers varsity baseball and softball teams opened competition in the Central Hudson Valley League this past week, but the results were not what either team hoped for. The Berlin boys hosted the Eagles of Loudonville Christian in their season opener. The game remained close in the early innings, with Berlin starter Garrett Fiske keeping the Eagles’ bats fairly quiet. An antiques and art discovery day will be held to benefit the Tech Valley High School Parent Activities Council (PAC) on Saturday, April 16. The event is open to the public from 9 am to 6 pm.
