Two County 4-H Members Go To Nationals

Two Rensselaer County 4-H members joined 14 other teens from across the State to represent New York at the National 4-H Eastern Roundup held in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exhibition in Louisville, Kentucky. These two members participated in regional and State events throughout the year which qualified them to earn seats on the Horse Communications Team.

Marilyn Lamb Receives Rosekrans Award

Marilyn Lamb of Buskirk was chosen to receive the 2012 4-H Rosekrans Award.  Marilyn is a 12 year member of 4-H and daughter of Chris and Terry Lamb.  She is currently a freshman at SUNY Cobleskill majoring in Agricultural Business with a minor in Dairy Management.

Three Vehicle Car Crash In Hoosick

Sheriff Jack Mahar reports that  the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash involving three cars  that occurred at 6:48 the morning of November 19 on Route 7. All three vehicles were heading eastbound in the Town of Hoosick just west of Babcock Lake Road.

Biotech Company May Provide Up To 300 County Jobs

Good news percolated at the Rensselaer County Legislature’s meeting on Tuesday, November 13, because of the happy convergence of State and County Government of both parties and private enterprise. Earlier in the day New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the largest expansion in New York State’s biotech industry this year which will, it is hoped, create as many as 300 new, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. Election Results In Eastern Rensselaer Towns

In Eastern Rensselaer County the Towns of Hoosick and Stephentown voted for President Obama on Tuesday – 53% in Hoosick and 54% in Stephentown – similar to results county-wide in Rensselaer County. Dedication Of The Brigadier General James J. Kenney Memorial Highway

The Rensselaer County Legislature will join with local officials, family, friends and veterans Saturday in unveiling the Brigadier General James J. Kenney Memorial Highway on State Route 7 near the Tomhannock Reservoir.
The ceremony will take place Saturday, October 20, at 11 am at the Tomhannock Reservoir fishing area parking lot, next to Lakeshore Drive.

County Legislature Requests DOT To Review Safety Conditions Of Route 2 Overpass In Petersburgh

On Tuesday, October 9, the Rensselaer County Legislature passed a resolution requesting the State Department of Transportation review safety and travel conditions on State Route 22 in Petersburgh in the area where State Route 2 is carried via bridge over State Route 22. The resolution was introduced by District 5 Legislators Stan Brownell and Lester Goodermote, who represent the towns of Stephentown, Berlin, Petersburgh, Grafton, Hoosick and the Village of Hoosick Falls, and was joined by the entire Legislative body. After the meeting a broadcast journalist from TV Channel 6 and his cameraman showed up to interview Brownell and Goodermote in the anteroom of the Legislative Chamber about the traffic problem in Petersburgh.

Voter Registration Hours Are Extended In Rensselaer County

The Rensselaer County Board of Elections and town halls in Rensselaer County will be open for extended hours in order to accommodate voters needing to register for the upcoming general election on Tuesday, November 6.
Commissioners of Elections Larry Bugbee, Republican, and Edward McDonough, Democrat, announced today that the Board of Elections, along with town halls in Rensselaer County will be open from 5:30 pm until 9 pm on Thursday, October 4, and from 2 pm until 9 pm on Saturday, October 13.
