County Legislature Delays Recognition Of Bronze Star Recipient

In a ceremony on Veterans Day in Afghanistan 1st Sergeant James Meltz of Cropseyville received a Bronze Star. The news hit the wires on Veterans Day here in the States. On Wednesday evening, November 12, at the meeting of the Rensselaer County Legislature, the Democrat Legislator who the Republican Legislators love to hate, Kevin Harrington of Averill Park, introduced a resolution as a late filing that honored Sgt. Meltz.

Resource Roundup Draws Good Crowd

Paula Dibble estimated that about 60 people stopped in at Stephentown’s first “Resource Roundup” held on Wednesday at the Town Hall. Sheffer’s Dairy Hosts Land Conservation Workshop

The Sheffer family of Sheffer’s Grassland Dairy in Hoosick hosted a grazing land conservation farm workshop in conjunction with the Rensselaer County Soil & Water Conservation District and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service on Thursday, November 6. A lunch of local pastured beef hamburgers and hot dogs was enjoyed by everyone in the open under rainy skies.

Rensselaer County Veterans Breakfast

The Brunswick Elks hosted the Annual Rennselaer County Veterans breakfast on Sunday, November 9.  More than 700 meals were served to area Veterans and their families, with a special awards ceremony following the breakfast.  Twenty-five area Veterans were awarded various service medals by Congressman Mike McNulty and County Executive Kathy Jimino. Candidates Attend Democrat Event

About 50 people attended the Democrat event held at the Sand Bar on Sunday, October 19. “Everyone had a great time,” said Hoosick Town Supervisor Marilyn Douglas. Candidates running for election in November attending were Ian McGaughey who is running against Tony Jordan for the New York State Assembly and Mike Russo, former District Director for Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand. Russo is running for the New York State Senate against Roy McDonald. Also attending the event was Rensselaer County Democrat Chairman Tom Wade.

Rensselaer County Legislature – An Innocent Mistake?

During Tuesday’s Rensselaer County Legislative Meeting Bob Brignola, a Rensselaer County citizen, addressed the Legislators regarding the recent ballot misprint which made national news.
