Bells and Motley Consort of Olden Music, Dance and Storytelling with John and Sondra Bromka will be presenting a festive holiday musical program “Christmas Long Ago and Far Away” at the North Chatham Library on Saturday, December 17, at 3 pm.
Sondra and John Bromka’s versatile accomplishments in European and American historic music, dance and literary traditions have inspired audiences for over 25 years. Theirs is an extensive collection of historic and folkloric instruments and resources.

Winter Wild Edibles
Devin Franklin of the Flying Deer Nature Center will present “Wilds Edibles in Winter” on Thursday, December 15, at 6:30 pm at the New Lebanon Library. The program is oriented to adults and teens.
Once winter settles into the Taconics, it’s not too late to enjoy the fine flavors that our forests and fields have to offer. Trees offer teas, seeds offer cereals, roots offer repast, and even some greens endure the freeze. Participants will learn to identify the top ten Winter Wild Edibles that earn high ranking for flavor, findability and fun. Patrons may bring in their own samples to identify.

Area Men Accused Of Deer Poaching

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) police officers recently concluded a blanket deer taking enforcement detail in the Capital Region and surrounding areas in conjunction with the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont. A number of area men were cited by DEC officers during this enforcement detail.

Mountain Road School Hosts 13th Annual Holiday Fair
On Saturday, December 10, from 10 am to 3 pm, Mountain Road School in New Lebanon will hold its 13th Annual Holiday Fair. The cozy classrooms of the school’s historic Shaker building are transformed into a wintry wonderland with seasonal fun for the whole family and admission is free.
Children and adults can make gingerbread houses, weave a jump rope, dip candles and make a nature-themed candle holder, construct a pine cone bird feeder, take a cake walk or play in the game room. Younger children can browse for gifts in the Tiny Treasures room and visit the Pocket Lady. Locally produced jewelry, skin care products, pottery, chocolates, blown glass, hand decorated wreaths and other holiday gifts will be on sale, plus a unique selection of children’s books.
