For those in the Taconic Valley who remember the days when the trains of the Rutland Railroad were part of the daily scene, or for those who just have a nostalgic interest in railroading, James R. “Jim” Jones has created a special treat. The radio personality, railroad buff and media professional has just put out the sixth and last in his “Rutland Remnants” DVD series, this one entitled “North Bennington, VT to Chatham, NY – Corkscrew Rails & Tales.”

It collected children’s books for the library and donated items like toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap washcloths, towels, PJs and other small items to fill backpacks for children going to a special summer camp. Members wrote 50 Christmas Cards to send to Holiday Mail for Heroes and made splints for Operation Smile. Besides the Art & Craft Awards one Scholarship and four Awards were given to students at the New Lebanon High School and the Berkshire School for boys. The latest program was collecting items for the Woman’s Shelter in Hudson. Sheets, towels, curtains, blankets a stroller some dishes and pots and pans and about 100 lbs. of toilet articles were collected. A big Thank You to all who helped to make this a huge success.
