Rev Tor To Perform At The New Lebanon Library
Berkshire musician Tor Krautter will perform at the New Lebanon Library on Friday, January 30, at 6:30 pm. With the use of a looping unit, Rev Tor creates tasty yet infectious grooves and performs a large repertoire of well crafted original tunes and classic rock/folk covers. The performance will be inside the library. This event is free and open to the public, although donations for the performer are appreciated.
Krautter (aka Rev Tor) is best known as front man for the popular Rev Tor Band. Since the early 90s he has been a powerful presence on the east coast club and festival circuit, performing in venues from Maine to Florida. Rev Tor has worked with members of The Grateful Dead, Phish, The Allman Brothers and New Riders Of The Purple Sage and has performed at concerts with The Jerry Garcia Band, Los Lobos and Leon Russell. He has toured regularly with Grateful Dead keyboardist Tom Constanten.

Meeting In Nassau On High Pressure Gas Pipeline

A high pressure gas pipeline proposed to pass through the towns of Schodack, Nassau and Stephentown drew a large crowd of concerned residents to St. Mary’s Church in Nassau last Saturday where the group Stop NY Fracked Gas Pipeline (SNYFGP) was holding its first public meeting since the pipeline’s route shifted north from New Lebanon, Canaan and Chatham.

New Lebanon Town Board Action – A Very Muddy Christmas

It’s only January and already the Town of New Lebanon is getting complaints from the Governor’s office because the roads are too muddy.
Actually the road in question, West Hill Road, was too muddy on Christmas, the New Lebanon Town Board heard at its January meeting Tuesday; the complaints are still coming in from last year. Apparently somebody had a muddy Christmas, and the first thing they did was complain to the Governor’s office. They also complained to the Columbia County Sheriff’s office and the Columbia County Emergency Management services as well just to keep the ball rolling.

New Lebanon 2015-2016 Kindergarten And Pre-k Registration Now Open
The New Lebanon Central School District has begun the process of registering students for the 2015-16 kindergarten and pre-k classes. Students need to be legal residents of the School District and reside with parents or guardians within the School District at the time of the opening day of school.
2015-16 Kindergarten Registration
Students must be five years of age or more on December 1, 2015, in order to register for kindergarten. Please call the elementary school office by March 31, 2015, at 794-8554 to ensure your child is on the registration list.
2015-16 Pre-K Registration
Students must be four years of age or more on December 1, 2015, in order to register. Transportation is provided for students who are four years old. Parents of students who are not four years of age when school begins in September will need to provide transportation to and from school until their child turns four years of age. Please call the elementary school office by March 31, 2015, at 794-8554 to register your child.
Darrow School Hosting Open Houses
Darrow School invites all prospective students and families to attend one of two upcoming Open House sessions on Monday, January 19, and Monday, February 16.
Hosted by the Admissions Office, Open House events feature an opportunity to experience Darrow School. The visit will include an opportunity to learn in-class with students, an interview or information session, lunch with students and teachers, and tours of Darrow’s facilities and historic Shaker campus. Tour highlights include:
• student exhibits in Darrow’s state of the art, 12,000 square foot Joline Arts Center;
• the Samson Environmental Center and The Living Machine – a wastewater treatment facility, and
• the historic service-learning program, Hands-to-Work.
Darrow’s challenging and individually focused college preparatory curriculum features a unique combination of classroom instruction, hands-on learning and environmental consciousness. Our beautiful mountainside campus is a National Historic Landmark and provides an ideal educational setting.
Any interested families with students who will be entering grades 9 through 12 are welcome to attend the Open Houses. Darrow has a rolling admissions policy and offers mid-year enrollment on a limited basis.

Shaker Museum|Mount Lebanon Awarded $500,000 For Historic Preservation
NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced awards through the State’s Regional Economic Development Councils, which includes a $500,000 historic preservation grant to the Shaker Museum | Mount Lebanon. The grant has been awarded through the State’s Environmental Protection Fund, administered by the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and will be used towards funding Phase 2 restorations on Mount Lebanon’s Great Stone Barn, a project estimated to cost $750,000.

An Evening Of Jazz And Swing With The Limb Shakers
Berkshire band The Limb Shakers will be performing at the New Lebanon Library on Friday, January 23, at 6:30 pm. They will perform a program of old time jazz and swing music at this event, which is free and open to the public although donations for the performers are appreciated.
The Limb Shakers have played swing dances at Club Helsinki and given concerts throughout Western Mass and New York. The band features Allen Livermore on saxophone, bassist Dan Broad and Pete Adams on pedal steel guitar. Allen Livermore is a certified music teacher who has taught preschool through college. As a saxophonist and drummer, he has performed at clubs, restaurants, resorts, colleges and arts spaces throughout New England and New York.
Dan Broad, one of the most sought after bassists in Western New England, has performed in nearly every state in the union and as well as in Europe. Pete Adams, renowned for his skill on steel guitar, has performed with Dooley Austen, Rushmore, Bobby Sweet, and the Adams Brothers, among others.

Dana Welts To Perform At The New Lebanon Library
Berkshire musician Dana Welts will perform at the New Lebanon Library on Friday, January 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. All are welcome, and the event is free, although donations for the performer are welcome.
Singer/guitarist Welts regularly appears at the Lion’s Den, Juice N’ Java and several other Berkshire espresso fueled environments. His songs are characterized by strong hooks, clean arrangements, political commentary and a slightly twisted and cynical but often joyful tone that truly resonates with the soul of the sixties.

• January 14, 21, 28 (event is on Wednesdays) – Small Wonders Storytime – 10:00 am with songs, movement activities and age appropriate stories for our younger patrons (toddlers up to 35 months) and their caregivers.

• January 12, 26 (event is every other Monday) – Study the Constitution – 7 pm. This biweekly discussion group focusses on the study of the Constitution. Interested participants should bring their questions and be ready to share their opinions.

• January 16 – Dana Welts in concert – 6:30 pm. Singer/guitarist Welts performs music that resonates with the soul of the sixties. Donations for the performer are appreciated.
• January 22 – Family Crafts Night – 6:30 pm. Join us and make a paper bead necklace or bracelet. All materials are provided. This activity is for ages 5 and up.
