This Time The Town Is Not On The Hook For Their Care

State Police say a neighbor on Jay Hakes Road alerted them to a large number of dogs chained to buildings and trucks at an abandoned trailer home, the animals left without shelter from the extreme cold.  Troopers identified the owner as 83 year old Ed Maxfield.  They say his son had been feeding the dogs twice a day, but they were without water, as their dishes had long since frozen over.  [Read more…] about Another Case Of Animal Neglect In Grafton

Grafton Lakes State Park Holds Its 31st Annual Ice Fishing Contest

Postponed two weeks because of warm temperatures and unsafe ice, winter’s anglers finally got the chance to venture out on the ponds of the State Park, in search of Pickerel, Perch and Trout. Attendance at this year’s event was down considerably from previous years. Park Manager Melissa Ann Miller attributing that to the postponement from the usual date as part of Winterfest, and the subzero temperatures and wind chills. Full Value Reassessment Planned For Grafton

Friends Of Dyken Pond Hold First Annual Ground Hog Day Celebration

Girl Scouts Collect 500 Pounds Of Food For Local Food Pantries

Girl Scout Service Unit 154 has been collecting food donations throughout December and January on behalf of the communities’ local food pantries as well as the Berlin Elementary School’s weekend and holiday pantry.  Troops contacted community organizations and asked for donations at meetings and placed boxes in public places across the four towns. Grafton Lake State Park Winterfest A Blast Despite Lack Of Snow
