Two More Speeding Mishaps On Bly Hollow Road

Last November the Berlin Town Board petitioned the NYS Department of Transportation for a speed reduction on Bly Hollow Road. At the time the Town cited many drivers traveling at excessive speeds, resulting in numerous accidents over the past few years, two of which were fatal. At the February 11 meeting, resident Doug Goodermote reported there were at least two more incidents of vehicles leaving the road as the result of high rates of speed. No injuries were reported. An isolated water pressure problem was one of the topics of discussion at the Berlin Town Board’s workshop meeting on January 28. Water District 2 Superintendent Winn and Board members traded ideas on how this could be addressed, and the discussion turned to the age of the water mains in the Town, first constructed in the 1930s. Girl Scouts Collect 500 Pounds Of Food For Local Food Pantries
Girl Scout Service Unit 154 has been collecting food donations throughout December and January on behalf of the communities’ local food pantries as well as the Berlin Elementary School’s weekend and holiday pantry. Troops contacted community organizations and asked for donations at meetings and placed boxes in public places across the four towns.
