To The Editor,
It is with great concern that I have followed the events unfolding within our School District in the last five years. I was greatly disturbed when our former school superintendent and former business manager first unveiled their plans to close Grafton and Stephentown Elementary Schools as part of an attempt to save money, as well as perform much needed repairs and updates at our other two District schools. Letter To The Editor – Trying To Resolve Issues
To the editor:
I am writing this as a community member. I have great concerns regarding articles that have been presented and printed in the Eastwick Press. Depending on whom is hosting the conversation, the information that is given to the Community has been fiction and or the truth distorted. Famous one-liners that say nothing however can mean a lot. When I was sworn in as a Board Member, Bev Stewart and Tom Morelli requested that we be honest and open with the community. I was and am – for the more the community is involved in the School decisions the better our School District is and can become.

Letter To The Editor – Taxes Are The Issue
Dear Editor,
I am keeping the children out of this letter, because we have some great teachers, bus drivers and staff and I know that our kids will be safe and get a good education. The BIGGER issue right now is TAXES and what we are paying for! Do we really have a choice? Why is there no trust in our District leaders? Well, we can take a brief walk through history to see clearly why.

Letters To The Editor – To Set The Record Straight
Dear Editor;
In a recent news story, a statement was made in reference to an increase of $10,000 in the Superintendent’s Salary as a planned raise for the current Interim Superintendent. This statement was reported inaccurately on this budget increase.
The current Interim Superintendent continues to work under the same level of compensation as was negotiated in the first year of service. This compensation, as required by law, is reported each year on the School District’s website as well as to the State Aid Management System as part of the school report card. The current Superintendent continues to work for the same salary as originally negotiated.

Letter To The Editor – Outrage At Unilateral Decisions
Dear Eastwick Press:
I am writing to express my outrage that the Interim Superintendent of the Berlin School District, along with the School Board, have unilaterally decided to close Grafton Elementary without a town vote. Is this even legal?
How does one go about challenging this decision? I do not believe that the Interim Superintendent was given the powers to close a school, nor do I believe that the Board of Education included the valley when they met at a supposed “budget meeting” and voted to close Grafton.

Letter To The Editor – An Issue Of Sovereignty?
To the Editor:
As a past Town Justice, Councilman and Planning Board Chair of the Town of Grafton, it is with great pride that I applaud and commend the recent action taken by the current Town Board, more specifically with regard to the resolution by Councilman Edward Fredricks and the unanimous vote by the Board opposing the NYS State Dept. of Environmental Conservation’s designation of the Rensselaer Plateau as a Forest Legacy Area.

Letter To The Editor – This Is Our Home
Letter to the Editor,
I remember years ago, walking on a street in New York City and seeing a well dressed woman picking up litter. A passerby commented on her noble act, and she said “This is my home; I want it to be clean.” This statement has always stuck with me.

Letter To The Editor – A Personal Response
To the Editor:
This letter is a personal response to Lenore Humphrey’s March 26th Letter to the Editor. Her Letter was an attempt at character assassination, full of innuendo and misleading statements. So let’s set the record straight. Clearly, she believes her ancestry dating back over 200 years to the Petersburgh area entitles her to a position of community respect, while others more recent to the area (called newbies by Ms. Humphrey) are advised to keep their wallets open and mouths shut. I respectfully disagree.

Letter To The Editor – I Am Not A Newbie
Dear Editor :
I just finished reading a letter in your paper from Lenore J. Humphrey, and I admire anyone who has taken the time to research her family back to 1780. Now on to the real reason I write today. I have to laugh every time I hear anyone put others down because they are “Newbies.” Pretty funny. My household has been in Petersburgh, yes Petersburgh (Not Grafton), and that’s Petersburgh with an “H” since 1993. If that’s the definition of new I’m guilty! Letter To The Editor – More On The Subject
To the Editor:
Regarding Lenore Humphrey’s letter to the editor (3/25) I appreciate her positive words about me. However, in all fairness to Mr. Noeding, he did leave a message for me at the Town Hall requesting a meeting. Unfortunately on the two occasions I tried to return his call there appeared to be something amiss with his phone, and I was unable to get through.
