Letter To The Editor – What A Shame!!!

September 10, 2010 By eastwickpress

To the Editor:
Now that Grafton and Stephentown Elementary schools have been officially closed due to the unfortunate decision from part of the (former and not all) Board of Education members (not the community) and a former administrator; all of the students will be housed at the Berlin Elementary School (BES). How is this building suitable for all of these students? [Read more…] about Letter To The Editor – What A Shame!!!

Letter To The Editor – On Behalf Of Animals In Their Natural Habitat

September 10, 2010 By eastwickpress

Dear Editor: (submitted August 22)
I am responding to the letter from Mr. Bob Rubin, who expressed concern over Fishers (martes pennanti) as a threat to domestic cats and dogs (Eastwick Press August 20 issue). I am sorry for the loss of his cat. We, too, are cat lovers and have concerns about their interactions with other creatures. Letter To The Editor – Neither Snow Nor Rain…Really?

September 3, 2010 By eastwickpress

To the Editor:
On June 30, 2010, we received a folded/stapled paper in our mailbox. This letter was sent by the Postmaster of the Stephentown Post Office. It informed us that the Post Office was “making us aware of hazards and unsafe conditions in the approach of our mailbox and roads.” This letter continued to state that “they value our safety and the safety of our letter carriers.” Also, “The Post Office is very concerned about the condition of your road.” The letter ends, “If we do not have this issue resolved by July 30, 2010, we have no choice but to hold your mail at the Post Office. Letter To The Editor – This Used To Be Done With A Handshake

September 3, 2010 By eastwickpress

To the Editor: (submitted August 3, 2010)
We were pleased to receive the Judgment and Order by the Town of Petersburgh Court dismissing all of the allegations against us by the Petersburgh Planning Board. At the advice of legal counsel we have not commented publicly regarding the private matter of Star Ridge Way, but the Town Court’s recent ruling affords us the opportunity to clarify a number of facts surrounding this issue.

August 20, 2010 By eastwickpress

Letter To The Editor – Show Your Support For The Gladioli

August 6, 2010 By eastwickpress

To the Editor:
Three years and 10,000 gladioli bulb plantings later, the 3-year objectives of the Beautification of Berlin Committee have been met and exceeded – the planting of 10 major and 3 secondary beds of strikingly colored gladioli along Route 22 in Berlin with the intent of replicating in a small way the beautiful display of many acres of gladioli bulbs for which Berlin was renowned nationally in the late 1800s and early 1900s and to celebrate and preserve the rich history of our Town.

August 6, 2010 By eastwickpress

Letter To The Editor – Watch Out!

July 30, 2010 By eastwickpress

To the Editor:
This is a warning to everyone who has a phone with Fairpoint – check your long distance calls carefully. I had six calls on my recent bill that were to disconnected phones in Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina and New York. When I called the phone company they said they are having trouble in my area, which leads me to believe that I am NOT the only person overcharged and that I would not be refunded unless I called.

Letter To The Editor – Mad As Heck

July 30, 2010 By eastwickpress

Dear Editor:
When is someone in this state going to use some common sense? Lawmakers want to enact a law requiring teenagers to blow into a device to start their cars and then continue to blow into it every 30 minutes to keep their car running – all to prove they have not been drinking.

Letter To The Editor – Just The Facts

July 16, 2010 By eastwickpress

To the Editor,
I would like to address the upcoming issue of the purchase of the Berlin Lumber property. Some residents have expressed concerns that the property is in the flood plain, it is too big for us and it will increase taxes. Some of you may have other concerns. I feel that the first vote resulted in a NO vote because the information some residents received was exaggerated and incorrect and many people were led to believe that this would not be good for the town. This time, I would like to give you factual and correct information so you can make an intelligent and informed decision. [Read more…] about Letter To The Editor – Just The Facts
