Joyce Mae Pine Seifert – Obituary

January 3, 2025 By Eastwick Press

Joyce Mae Pine Seifert left us peacefully on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Joyce was born in Cambridge, New York on May 12, 1941, to parents Lester and Ruby (Hunt) Pine. Her family ran a chicken farm and one of her many chores was to collect a basket of eggs before school.

She graduated from Hoosick Falls High School in 1958, where she was a cheerleader and caught the eye of a very handsome basketball player, Ron Seifert. Ron and Joyce went on to marry on Thanksgiving Day, 1959 and enjoyed 63 years of marriage together until his passing in August of 2023. Joyce was a natural when it came to numbers. She started her bookkeeping career at Wood Flong before she began working at Bakers Nurseries, where she worked for many years. Joyce worked alongside her husband at their antique auction business where she did everything from polishing silver, washing dishes, ironing linen, along with keeping up the books. She was a member of the West Hoosick Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed being a part of the Walter A. Wood Alumni Association and helped keep track of former classmates and other alumni.

Joyce loved her weekly shopping trips, decorating her house for holidays and working outside to maintain the appearance of her home. She also loved going on family trips, especially to Maine, Lancaster, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC.

Joyce’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, even in most recent years, her great grandchildren’s.

Joyce is survived by her children, Cheryl Seifert, Vicki (Jeff) Wysocki, Wendy (Ken) Marbot and Kyle (Maureen) Seifert. Her grandchildren Josh (Katie), Chad (Tiffany) and Corey (Katie) Wysocki. Mikaela and Kenneth Marbot, and Claire and Keelan Seifert. Great grandchildren Bella, JJ, Addie, Peyton, Jackson, Henry and Tate Wysocki. Her sister, Janet Bugbee and sisters in law, Elaine Sausville and Nathleen Tukey. Besides her husband and parents, Joyce is predeceased by her granddaughter, Laura Marbot, great grandson, Wyatt Wysocki, and brothers in law, Dennis Sausville and Richard Tukey.

Relatives and friends were invited to celebrate her life on Sunday, December 22nd at Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 23rd, at 11 am at the West Hoosick Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joyce’s memory may be made to The West Hoosick Baptist Church or The Karen and Molly McGovern Fund.
