Edwin Thomas Webster Sr. – Obituary

Hoosick – Edwin “Tom” Thomas Webster Sr., 80, passed away on Friday, September 9th, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He resided in Hoosick, NY, with his wife, Mary Frances (Williams) Webster.

Youngest son of the late Edwin W. and Florence A. (Callahan) Webster, Tom was born on December 23, 1941, in Hoosick Falls. He was educated at Saint Mary’s Academy and Hoosick Falls Central School. Tom worked at Albany Airport beginning in 1963 and retired in 2006 as the New York State Police Aviation Director of Aircraft Maintenance.

He had a passion for riding and working on motorcycles and for being outdoors. Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Pioneer Fish & Game Club, where he served as Hunter Education Instructor. He loved cheering on Dale Earnhardt, Notre Dame, the New York Giants, and the New York Yankees. He most enjoyed trips with his family to Maine every year since he was a young boy and supporting his children and grandchildren at sporting events, theatre productions, and more.

Survivors other than his wife Mary include his children Edwin “Tommy” T. Webster Jr. (Kimberly), William “Billy” J. Webster (Darci), Vicki L. Steller (Fred), Casey E. Webster (Jon Carpenter) and Shawnee F. Webster, and his grandchildren Makayla, Ryan, Cole, Evan, Bailey Jo, Drake, Kade, Samantha, and Bryce. Tom is also survived by five great-grandchildren, sister Patricia LeBarron, brother John Webster, several nieces and nephews, and former spouse Sally (Townsend) Webster.  He was predeceased by his grandchild Shae Webster, sister Nancy McCabe, and brother Walter Webster.

Tom’s family invites you to celebrate his life on Saturday, September 17, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Willow, a rabbit rescue founded by his daughter, or a charity of your choice.
