Hoosick Falls – Esther L. (Woodard) Wagner, 89, passed away on April 1, 2022 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington VT. She had resided at the Danforth Adult Care Center since 2017, but lived most her life in West Hoosick (Hoosick Falls) New York. Esther was born November 13, 1932 at Hoosick Falls, NY, the daughter of Clayton Woodard and  Mary Jane Brown Woodard. She attended and graduated from school in Hoosick Falls. Esther loved crafts, coloring and drawing. Her passion was baking. She was well known in Hoosick Falls for the hundreds of cakes she made over the years, including wedding cakes, shower cakes and anniversary cakes. The first cake she ever made was for the wedding of her son, Tim, and daughter in law, Lori, in 1980. After that, everyone knew Esther and came to her for their special occasion cakes.

Esther married Paul Wagner on October 6, 1956 in Hoosick Falls, and lived on Pine Valley Road in where they raised two sons. Esther was predeceased by her husband Paul, who passed away on February 1, 2022.

Esther is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Lori Wagner and Todd and Barbara Wagner.  She is also survived by four grandchildren: Travis (Danielle) Wagner, Ross (Jennifer) Wagner, Lindsay Wagner and Andrea Wagner; three great-grandsons, Weston Wagner, Easton Wagner and Everett Wagner, two nephews, Frederick (Marlene) Wagner and Thomas (Kimberly) Wagner, and a sister, Marie O’Dell.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Esther was predeceased by her siblings, Walter Woodard,  Harold Woodard, Ralph Woodard, Jean Paddock and James Edward Woodard.

There will be no calling hours or services per Esther’s wishes.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Danforth Adult Care Home for the love and care Esther received there over the past few years.
