Hoosick Falls – Henry R. “Hank” Marchand, 95, passed away on April 23, 2020 at his residence on Church Street. He was born on July 22, 1924, in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, son of the late Alfred and Jenny (Cantera) Marchand.
Hank served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946. He proudly served on the USS Bailey and was a member of the Tin Can Sailors. Hank worked for many years at Oak Industries in Hoosick Falls. He was married first to Geraldine Crayon, then Alvera LeBlanc, who both predeceased him.
He was a member of the Eagles Club, Derby Club and St.Stanislaus Society, all in Hoosick Falls and the American Legion Post # 13 in Bennington, Vermont. He was also a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Hank was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and an exceptional storyteller. He will be sadly missed by his family and his extended family of friends. He will be forever remembered for his happy antics and memorable phrases.
Survivors include his children Deborah Cunningham of Port Jervis, NY, Raymond (Martha) Marchand of Naches,WA, Stephen (Barbara) Marchand of Hawley, PA, three step-daughters; Patricia Herring, Jeanne LeBlanc Herring, Marie Dando and sister-in-law Nancy Crayon Berkery, nine loving grandchildren; Erin (Philip) Echenrode, Lauren (Richard) Preiato, Sean (Lisa) Cunningham, Ryan (Marlo) Cunningham, Wyatt (Elise) Marchand, Evan Marchand, Renee (John) Moor, Lindsey (DeCarlo) Brown and Keegan (fiancé Laura) Marchand, eleven great-grandchildren, which he took great pleasure in watching, four step -grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; also nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by nine sisters and two brothers, as well as his son-in-law Kevin Cunningham.
Because of the current COVID-19 Pandemic, memorial services will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Immaculate Conception Church or the American Legion Post # 13 of Bennington, VT, through the funeral home.
