Edward Sukuskas Sr.

Hoosick Falls, New York – Edward J. “Peaser” Sukuskas Sr., 88, passed away peacefully in his home on River Road, February 17, 2019. He was the husband of the late Lois (Eddy) Sukuskas. They were married for fifty-eight years.

Peaser was born on January 12, 1931, in Hoosick Falls, son of the late Stephen and Edna (Unavitch) Sukuskas. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy. Peaser was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served on the USS Kearsarge. He was a lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls and worked at the Wood Flong Corporation/Lydall for forty-eight years. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Peaser’s greatest love, besides his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the great outdoors. He served as President of the Pioneer Fish & Game Club for over fifty years. He was also a member of the Rensselaer County Conservation Alliance, Mid-Hudson Fur Harvesters and the New York State Trappers Association. 

He is survived by his three children  Anne (Gary) Sargood, Edward J. Sukuskas Jr. and Helen (Fran) Enzien. He is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law Paulette Sukuskas. He was predeceased by three sisters – Helen McDonough, Marie Whittet and Irene Cottrell, and two brothers – Stanley and William Sukuskas. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Thursday February 21, from the First United Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, on Wednesday, February 20. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Pioneer Fish & Game Club or Voice of the Vets through the funeral home, Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, New York 12090.
