Edward F. Maleady, 89, of Hoosick Falls, NY passed away on July 18, 2018 at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT. He went to heaven to join his wife, Barbara, whom he married on November 20, 1954 at Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Born in Albany, NY on December 22, 1928, he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine McMahon Maleady. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls, Class of 1946 and Troy Business College. He served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. Ed was a Real Estate Agent in Hoosick Falls and owned Maleady Brothers Insurance for nearly 35 years before joining Robson & Geraghty Insurance Agency. He retired in 1993.
He was a Communicant of the Immacuate Conception Church and a member of the Battenkill Hunting Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Ed enjoyed deer hunting, watching the stock market, a good long conversation, and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Ed was predeceased by his wife Barbara Brandalik Maleady and his four sisters, Doris McGuire, Sister Edwarda Maleady CSJ, Marie Cuddihy, and Ann Maleady. Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who is survived by his six children, Therese Goyette (Albert), Edward Maleady III (Deborah), Jeanne Wade (Barry), Dorothy LaCroix (Chris), Joseph Maleady (Melissa Kennedy), and Patrick Maleady. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren , Monica Allin (Andrew), Lindsay Goyette (Dan Burke), Rachel Ferrigno (James), Ryan Maleady, Aaron and Austin Wade, Nicole La Croix, Christopher LaCroix, Morgan and Joshua Creech, and Logan and Noah Maleady, two great-grandchildren, Madeline LaCroix and William Allin. Ed is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Wysocki, Catherine DeLisle, and Veronica Hoag, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday July 23 at noon from the First United Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Burial followed the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls on Sunday July 22.
