Two students within the Applied Technology Education (ATE) class at Berlin High School voluntarily participated in a Service Learning Project to benefit children at the Head Start preschool program in Berlin.
Shelbey Mace and Nicole Slater created wooden toys, which they will be donating to the Beginnings program on April 11.
This Service Learning Project provided an invaluable experience since it enriched learning by meeting specific learning goals while it strengthened the community.
“This Service Learning Project was a good thing for us because we used our academic knowledge and skills to address a genuine community need”, stated Slater when asked about her experience.
