Hoosick Falls Bowlers Are Champions

The Hoosick Falls Bowling Team finished the week by competing in the NYS Section 2 Class C Boys Bowling Tournament on Friday, February 2. The Panthers bowled well in the morning session, seizing the tournament lead in the first game.

Sophomore Evan Webster set the tone with a 246-688, the highest 3-Game Series in the entire tournament. Other top morning scores from Hoosick Falls included: A.J. Hurlburt 234-663, Brody Mullen 258-603, Erin McCart 208-568 and Owynn Arnold 196-542. In the afternoon, Senior Caption A.J. Hurlburt’s 225- 626 led Hoosick Falls as they battled changing lane conditions. His 6-game series of 1289 pins was the highest of the tournament.

Other top afternoon scores from Hoosick Falls included: Erin McCart 226-562, Brody Mullen 192, Meghan Backes 183 and Owynn Arnold 183. Hoosick Falls managed to maintain its 1st place position in each of the 6 games throughout the day, winning its first Sectional Title since the 2015-2016 season.

The Section 2 Class C Champions must now wait until Tuesday, when the Class B boys compete to see if their 6-game pin total of 5732 is enough to make them one of the three teams to represent the Section in the state tournament in a few weeks.

Earlier in the week the Southern Division Champion Hoosick Falls bowling team took on the Northern Division’s Fort Edward in the Adirondack League Championship Match Tuesday, January 30. Led by Senior Captain A.J. Hurlburt 257-692, the Panthers defeated Fort Edward by a final total of 3650 pins to 3384 to secure the league title. Tyler Stone 247-651 and Brenton DeLisle 268-651 led Fort Edward for the day.

Other top scores for Hoosick Falls included: Brody Mullen 239-632, Owynn Arnold 246-614, Erin McCart 221-598, Colin Cipperly 224-592, Meghan Backes 247-589, Cassandra Hynd 210-567, Colin King 198-565, Patrick Smith 212, Evan Webster 191, Riley Hayes 178, Ziena Hurlburt 173, Ryan Maxon 169, Kendra Marshall 161 and Lilli Williams 156.
