Sunday, September 18, 1842: Today we remained to brother Morton’s and my wife is quite unwell. Today rainy.
Monday: Today I rode to Rome Village with brother Morton. I called on Doctor Tylor and paid 37 cts for medicine for my wife.
Saturday: This forenoon Raymond Page took his team and carried my wife to Mr. Williams and he carried me to Andover to the Mineral Spring and then we returned to James Wylie tavern and I paid twelve cts for wine and I paid to Doctor Hunt 25 cts for medicine and then we returned to Cousin Williams and took dinner and tonight we returned to cousin Page’s and stayed.
Sunday: This morning Raymond Page took his team and carried us to brother Morton’s and today cousin Elisha Morton and myself walked to a Seventh Day meeting at a school house near old Edwin Swan’s and we called to said Swan’s. The preacher’s name is Lewis from Berlin, Rensselaer County.
Monday: Today cousin Elisha Morton took his team and carried I and my wife to New Hartford, we got there at noon, I took 21 dollars of Elisha to fetch to brother Simeon Wylie. Cousin Elisha returned home. This afternoon when we got to New Hartford to brother John Campbell, he and his wife had started that morning for Lebanon. My wife is quite fatigued riding today.
Tuesday: Today I had John Campbell’s horse and his brother Prescott’s wagon and I and my wife went to Lebanon. We were by the way of Paris Hill to Waterville and there we called at an Inn. I had wine and horse bating and paid 19 cts and from there we called to Madison four corners to Curtis’s and took dinner, wine, horse feed, and paid 59 cts. From there we came through Log City to Lebanon to cousin Lewis and got there a little before sunset.
Wednesday: Today we went from cousin Lewis to cousin Grosvenor’s. There I found brother John Campbell and wife.
Thursday: We returned to cousin Lewis and stayed tonight. Cousin Beriah Wylie went to Hamilton and I sent by him and paid one dollar for a bottle of Doctor Jaynes Indian Expecterus Syrup for my wife.
Friday: Today we returned from Lebanon to New Hartford. We called to Curtis’ tavern and my wife had a cup of tea and we had beer and horse feed and I paid the bill 28 cts. We came on home to brother Campbell’s a little before sundown. Today my wife was quite tired out for we drove quite fast. We started from Lebanon at ten o’clock.
Sunday: My wife is quite unwell and she took a puke.
Monday: my wife is a little better and today I walked to Utica and back, distance 7 miles. I went there to see what o’clock the packet went out. It was at nine in the morning.
Tuesday, October 4: On this morning we started for home from brother Campbell’s. His son Andrew took their one horse team and carried us to Utica, and we went on board of the packet at nine o’clock, Capt. Stuart, and I paid three dollars for our passage and board two meals to Schenectady. On the passage I paid four cts on board today for grapes. The boat ran into Schenectady on Wednesday morning at five o’clock in the morning.
