Participants walked along Route 2 in Grafton on their way to the Grafton Peace Pagoda last Saturday evening, August 5. It was part of ceremonies marking the 72nd Anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.

The event was also part of a “Water Walk for Life” by Buddhist nun Jun Yasuda, a 13 day 170-mile trek to protest the Pilgrim Pipeline that would carry crude oil to Albany. Saturday evening’s walk started at the Grafton Town Square, and ended with ceremonies at the Pagoda.
