The Back 2 School Boost Supply Drive

August 31, 2017 By eastwickpress

HACA Thanks The Community For Supporting

Through a collaborative effort from our generous community, 142 backpacks were filled and distributed with age appropriate school supplies, which helped provide local children with the tools they most need in order to succeed in school.
The requests received this year were double what have ever been received in the past 12 years. That figure speaks volumes to the increasing need among our youngest members of the community.
Generous contributions of supplies and financial donations were received from the churches and individuals in the community. Through the effort, over $1,500 in monetary contributions and school supplies was collected to fill the backpacks.
Two happy kids with their new backpacks.
Thank you to all who care for our children and community so that we could serve so many families.
“This drive allows many less fortunate children to have essential supplies necessary to be successful in school,” said Dianne Hosterman, executive director of HACA. “There are many of us that remember how exciting it was to purchase new notebooks, crayons, and pens and pencils that signaled the start of a new school year. There are far too many children in our community who do not get that experience.”
Concern has been expressed as HACA prepares for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas boxes that there will be a substantial increase in need there as well. As an all volunteer organization, the support of the community is indispensible in providing help and hope to our community.
