Congressman Paul Tonko Introduces Candidate At The Event

Andrea Smyth kicked off her campaign as the Democratic candidate for Rensselaer County Executive on Thursday, August 3 at 1 pm with an announcement at the Rensselaer Riverfront Park waterfront, on Broadway in the City of Rensselaer.  Smyth was introduced by U.S. Congressman Paul Tonko.

With a voter enrollment edge of 32,463 Democrats to 26,128 Republicans, Smyth seeks to be the first Democrat elected as the county’s Chief Executive Officer since the County Charter authorized the position in 1972.
