With an early threat of rain blowing off and it turning out to be a beautiful evening, hundreds of folks came to Wood Park to eat and socialize.

Children drew chalk drawings on the sidewalk on Eberle Way while their parents mingled until the community meal

began. Once the food became available, a line for the barbecue chicken dinner formed that stretched from one side of the park to the other.
The dinner of chicken, potato, cole slaw and roll was provided by Monolith Solar. But that was just the beginning. From the chicken serving table, diners moved out to the middle of a closed-to-traffic Main Street, where a 50 feet long flowered table feast of potluck food awaited them.
There were bowls of all different kinds of salads, beans and almost anything that could be transported in a casserole dish or bowl, along with cake and several other deserts. People sat in the chairs provided or portable chairs to eat with family, friends, or strangers that became friends.
The pleasant evening was topped off by the community band playing the always enjoyable Wednesday night band concert.
