Hoosick Falls – Anne C. Yurewitch, 104, passed away on Thursday August 2, at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, where she has resided for the last ten years. She was the widow of Dominic Yurewitch, who died on February 18, 1975. They were married on September 28, 1935 at the Immaculate Conception Church by the Reverend Paul Lynch. Anne was born on July 24, 1913, in Hoosick Falls, daughter of the late Joseph and Marya (Slonina) Bachorz.
She was educated at schools in Hoosick Falls. Anne worked at the Undergarment, Simmons Dress Factory and Barclay Home Products in Hoosick Falls retiring on July 24, 1978. Family was very important to Anne, she also enjoyed sewing and spending time at her brother’s camp at Lake Cossayuna.
Survivors include her granddaughter Karen Gorman (Frank) of Hoosick Falls, great-grandchildren Amanda, Latasha, Savannah and Jennifer Yurewitch, Ashley, Kimberly and Rebecca Gorman, fifteen great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Anne was a five generation grandmother. Anne is predeceased by her son John Yurewitch, grandson John Yurewitch Jr., sisters Elizabeth Jordan, Genevieve Durkin, Florence Matatt, Marjorie Hearns, Helena Angermund, Josephine Bachorz and Mary Chapones as well as brothers Francis, Michael, Fred and Albert Bachorz.
Funeral services were held Monday August 7, at 10 am from the Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, August 6.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation or Rensselaer County Community Hospice through the funeral home.
