Thomas J. Morin Sr

Hoosick Falls – Thomas J/ Morin, 77, passed away on Friday July 21, 2017 at his residence on Abbott Street in Hoosick Falls. He resided there with his wife Peggy A. Townsend who he married on November 10, 1962. Tom was born on August 31, 1939, in Bennington, Vermont son of the late Gerard and Mary (Powers) Morin. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1957.

Tom worked at several places including Grand Union Super Markets, Bunker Hill Store, both in Hoosick Falls, Johnson Controls in Bennington, Vermont and retired from his delivery route for Wise Potato Chips at the age of 62. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Tom enjoyed stock car racing at the state line which led him to become an avid NASCAR fan. Tom most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors other than his wife Peggy include their children Thomas J. Morin Jr., Timothy Morin and Tanya (Jody) Slater, all of Hoosick Falls, his siblings Marie Ray, Ann Farrara (Bob), Pat Bornt and Ray Morin (Sue), grandchildren Justin, Andrew and Karley Morin, Patrick Mulvihill, Kaitlyn Snyder and Carson Slater, great-grandchildren Mia, Maddison and Landyn. He is predeceased by three brothers Gerard Jr., Joseph and Francis Morin.

A graveside service was held on Monday July 24, at 1 pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. Marcus Martinez, Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad, Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Center for Living & Rehabilitation, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Albany Medical Center and the Albany Med Flight.
