Anna Brewer and Sarah Sigot have both earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.
[private]Sarah initiated the Weekend Backpack program at Hoosick Falls CSD. Sarah worked with the Hoosick Area Church Association, Regional Food Bank, and Hoosick Falls CSD to facilitate this new program. Each week 15 students are sent home with a backpack full of nutritious meals for the weekend. Sarah made sure the program was financed for at least three years and that the program would continue every school year.
Anna worked to design and install fitness stations, distance signs, and health signs along the Hoosic River Greenway. Anna also installed a bench on the north end of the trail.

This project enhanced and added another dimension to the trail. Anna also listed the fitness trail on several websites with hopes that people will come from other communities to enjoy the trail and bring people into the Hoosick Falls community.
Both girls were honored to have many people recognize them for this accomplishment. Congressman John Faso attended their Gold Ceremony along with dignitaries from the Village, Town, Rensselaer County and State of New York. Letters of congratulations and achievement came from past Presidents Carter, George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and officials from numerous branches of the military and heads of Government agencies.
Sarah the daughter of Sharon and Sergio Sigot, is attending New Hampshire College studying Culinary Arts. Anna, the daughter of Joyce and Todd Brewer, will be attending Elmira College in the fall studying nursing. [/private]
