Lester Goodermote

Hoosick Falls – Lester E. Goodermote, 70, passed away on Monday June 12, 2017 at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, surrounded by his children. [Private]He resided on Route 7, and was the husband of the late Carol (Birmingham) Goodermote who died on December 3, 2002.Lester was born on October 14, 1946, in Bennington, Vermont, son of the late Earl and Leona (Philpott) Goodermote. He was a truck driver in earlier years, then he worked at Johnson Controls in Bennington, as truck manager. Lester also was an accountant and real estate broker. He was involved with the community in many ways, serving as a Town of Hoosick Justice, a member of the Kiwanis, Elks Lodge, and the Republican Party. Lester also served as a County Legislator for several years, retiring this year. He was a member of the Hoosick Baptist Church. He enjoyed hosting family and friends for all occasions and being Santa’s helper.

Survivors include his children Christine N. Still (Charles), Mike A. Nicholas (Kate), Mark R. Nicholas (Christina Sousie) and Lester E. Goodermote (Rachel Prebble), sister Marla Nowak (Tom) all of Hoosick Falls, grandchildren Caroline Still, Luke and Sawyer Nicholas, Zachary Nicholas, Olivia and Natalie Holbrook.

Funeral services were held Tuesday June 20, at 11 am from the Hoosick Baptist Church on South Street in Hoosick. Burial followed the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick, New York. Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home on Monday June 19, from 3 to 7 pm.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Renal Center at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.[/Private]
