Gladys Ryan

Gladys “Glady” May (Dooley) Ryan, 83, of Hoosick Falls peacefully passed away at home on Friday, May 26, 2017.[private] Gladys was the beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Ryan and cherished mother of three children: son Kevin Ryan and his wife, Jocelyn; son Bobby Ryan and his wife Carol, and daughter, Jacquelyn Ryan-Thomson, all of Hoosick Falls.

Gladys was adored by her seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Michael Ryan and his wife Diandra, Jennifer Brandi and her husband, Jason, Christopher Ryan and Tara, Ailish Hazen, her husband, Mike, and their daughter, Caroline; Danielle Ryan and her husband, James Leary, Alex Thomson, and Phoebe Thomson. Gladys is survived by her siblings Ken Dooley, Peggy Rice, Debbie Spiak, Ron Dooley, and Gary Dooley and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers Carl Dooley, Francis Dooley, and Harold (Bud) Dooley.

Gladys was born on January 21, 1934 in Hoosick Falls, NY to Harold and Lida (Maynard) Dooley. She graduated from Austin Beauty School in 1954 and ran her own beauty shop for many years. She then worked at Allied Signal until retirement. Glady enjoyed spending time with her family sitting around the table and sharing stories, cooking her incredible recipes, and trying her luck at scratching lottery tickets and going to the Racino. She was also an avid Red Sox fan who would rarely miss a game. Glady lived a life full of love and laughter, and she will be deeply missed.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, May 30 from 4 to 7 pm at the Mahar Funeral Home in Hoosick Falls. A funeral mass was held Wednesday, May 31 at noon at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. Burial Services were held Thursday, June 1 at noon at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.

Donations can be made to the Karen and Molly McGovern Fund or Rensselaer County Hospice.

The family would like to thank Rensselaer County Hospice, especially Jamie Borge, who took extremely great care of Glady. [/private]
