Spa Catholic 5 – HF 7

Monday, May 15 at HFCS. On Senior Day on the home field the Lady Panthers got a nice win against Saratoga Spa Catholic. Liz Ryan started the game off with a single and scored on an RBI by Lily Abbott.[private] SC came back to get one run in the top of the second. After a Panther three batter second inning, and the same for SC in the top of the third, the Ladies batted around, starting off with Sydney Miller hitting a double, and totaled three runs for the inning. Neither team scored in the fourth or fifth inning. SC scored twice in the sixth to get within two at 4-3, but the Panthers came back with eight batters, five hits and three runs in the bottom of the inning, grabbing a 7-3 lead. With visions of the recent late inning losses over the weekend, the Ladies watched the first two SC batters get on base and score before getting the third out. Stephanie Merwin two singles and an RBI, Syd Miller went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, Maddy Atherton had a double, Mackenzie Ellis, Liz Ryan, Abby Philpott, Lily Abbott (RBI) and Cecelia Vincent each had singles.

That sixth inning was a killer for the Panthers. Cambridge batted around, plating six runs on three hits before the Panthers could gather three outs. In the top of the fifth, Breanna Schnakenberg singled and Liz Ryan got an RBI getting her home. In the bottom of the fifth, the first Cambridge batter hit a triple, then the second batter drove her in with a double, then she scored, tying the game at seven all.
