Senior Garrett Fiske and Junior Tyler Kellar where named this past week to the CHVL 2nd team All Stars.  [private]Both players helped the young Berlin squad to record several wins this year, as the team undergoes rebuilding under Coach Josh Weaver.  Fiske answered the coach’s call anywhere he was needed, from shortstop to the pitcher’s mound and to behind the plate.

He and Tyler were also two of the best hitters on the team.  New Lebanon placed two players on the 1st team All Stars, that being Alphonse Esposito and Matt Barton.  Brandon Napoli was named to the second team.

Berlin Softball Wraps Up Its Season

The Lady Mountaineers split a pair of games this past week, to wind down their season with a 5-11 record.  They dropped the first game by a 14 to 2 margin to New Lebanon.  Haley Maxon drove in Baily Catlin twice to account for both of Berlin’s runs. Catlin also recorded her 100th strikeout of the season in the game, quite an accomplishment for a 7th grader playing varsity ball.  The Berlin girls finished the season with a 31-0 shutout of Bishop Maginn. Catlin struck out 11 batters en route to a one-hit shutout.  Baily, Gabby Hall and Danielle Morse each had three hits for the Lady Mountaineers in the romp over the Albany based school. [/private]
