April 20, 2017 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls – James “Dubby“ Jim Miner a lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls, died on April 11, 2017.  [private]Born in Ticonderoga on April 6, 1940 to Charles & Dorothy (Barber) Miner.  A 1957 Graduate of the Hoosick Falls (Wood Memorial) High School and then a student at Hudson Valley Community College.

Jim spent many of his last years seeing America in his motor home accompanied with his love of 27 years, Gale Leva. Along the way, he regaled those he met with stories of his life:  Time served in the Army in Vietnam, the 19 years serving on the Hoosick Falls School Board, working at Haynes Ford, Wood Flong and Morrison Chevrolet and as co-owner of M&M Wine & Liquor Store in Greenwich.

Proudest of his three children, Brett (Natalie), Cherie and Jason (Ami) Miner and the three he helped raise, Joseph, Nicole Noto and Charlie Leva.  Treasured Grandchildren: David, Chad, Timothy, Zachary, Samantha, Madison and Asher –Elizabeth, Janessa, Alyssa and Silas.

When home in his beloved Hoosick Falls, you could find Dubby mowing the fairways at the Hoosick Falls Country Club, bartending at special events, hanging out at the Polish Hall or donating many hours at Kiwanis events as President and active member and screaming at football games.

Jim is also survived by his brother, Donald and his wife Carolyn along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Monday, April 17 at 11 am at Gerald Solomon National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, Jim requested donations be made to the Karen & Molly McGovern Fund at Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls.   [/private]
