Sanders (2-1) got the win for HFCS, while the Raiders Jacob Popiel took the loss.

Softball

HF 4 – Mechanicville 6

At HFCS, April 13. Short a couple varsity players due to a couple different reasons, coach Charlie Weeden had JV players making their varsity debut in this game. After two scoreless innings, the Raiders put a run across the plate in the top of the third.

The Panthers countered with one run of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning. From there the Raiders plated one run in each of the remaining innings, with the exception of the sixth when they scored two. The Panthers added one in the sixth. All this took the game into the bottom of the final (seventh) inning with the Panthers down 6-2. The Panthers used five singles to score two runs and load the bases before running out of outs, giving the Raiders a scare they didn’t see coming. The Ladies had ten hits, all singles, in the game. Liz Ryan, Abby Philpott and Maddy Atherton each had two hits. Atherton had two RBI’s, while Mackenzie Ellis and Marissa Landry each had one. Panther pitcher Abby Philpott took the loss, E. Salvadore got the win for the Raiders.  [/private]
