David Filkins

Burnt Hills – David B. Filkins, 69, passed away March 30, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. He was the son of Helen B. Filkins and the late Charles W. Filkins. [private]David graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School, Cornell University (BA), Union College (MA), and North Adams State (MA).. David taught science at Brittonkill, Cambridge, Troy, Glenmont Job Corp. and finished his career teaching GED in Schenectady.

For many years he operated dairy farms in Hoosick Falls where he originated his Davidale Holstein lineage. David also worked for JC Penney in Nashua, NH.

David is survived by his brother Charles W. Filkins III, his sister Judith (Richard) King, his sister Jane (Wayne) Bennett, three nieces and nephews, five great- nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held May 6 at 2 pm at the West Hoosick Baptist Church, 1339 Buskirk-West Hoosick Rd., Buskirk, New York 12028. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the West Hoosick Church.

As his final generous act David donated his body to the Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program through Hans Funeral Home. [/private]
