The unheated greenhouses at The Berry Patch in Stephentown are teeming with life, and have been all winter. [private]Spinach, arugula, baby lettuce, mesclun mix, mustard greens, kales, collards, radishes, salad turnips, herbs and more are putting on their spring burst of growth. A popular vendor at the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market 52 weeks a year, The Berry Patch is making it easier for people throughout the Taconic Valley to enjoy the tasty greens that they sell all year long.
The Berry Patch is happily introducing their Winter and Spring Greens CSA. CSA shareholders can choose from 3 to 6 pickups (2 each in March, April, and May) and get freshly picked salad greens and other great tasting, nutritious greens. At each pickup, shareholders can look forward to getting freshly harvested salad greens (spinach, arugula, baby lettuce, mesclun mix, broccoli raab, or mustards) and “bunched” items (kale, collards, escarole, endive, radishes, turnips, head lettuce, parsley, cilantro).
Pickup dates are March 8 and 22, April 5 and 19, May 3 and 17 at The Berry Patch between 2 and 5:30 pm. Not going to be around during some of those dates? No problem – just sign up for the dates that you want – as long as you choose a minimum of three dates. The minimum share is $60.00 (3 pickups); the maximum is $120 (6 pickups). The Berry Patch welcomes those with SNAP benefits.
