Petersburgh – Gerry K. Cromie, 71, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his home in Petersburgh. Born in Syracuse, NY on June 17, 1945, he was the son of the late Earl and Elizabeth Driscoll Cromie.[private]Gerry was raised and educated in Troy and resided in Petersburgh for most of his life. He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a bus driver for Yankee Trails in Rensselaer, served as a police officer for the Castleton Police Department and worked for the Town of Berlin and the Town of Petersburgh Highway Departments. Gerry served as a captain with the Petersburgh Rescue Squad. He enjoyed farming his land and was an avid New York Mets baseball fan. He is the beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” A. Lee Cromie; father of Sherry, Earl, Christina, Jeremy and the late Bruce and John; stepfather of Lorri, Rhea, Edward and Sandra; brother of Beth (Bill) Knuetter of Petersburgh and the late William Cromie. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and his best dog, Dakota. Relatives and friends may call at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh on Thursday from 11am-12:30 pm followed by the funeral service at 12:30 pm. Interment will be in the spring in Warren Cemetery, Boytonville.
