On February 3, 51 units of blood were donated at Hoosick Falls First Baptist Church. Thirty-six of them were specifically given in honor of Judy Quackenbush, a die-hard blood donor who has been diagnosed with Leukemia. [private]Judy can no longer donate and is now a blood recipient.
It was evident throughout the day just how much this kind, gentle spirited woman means to so many people in our community. Her warm caring smile is contagious.
Judy thought her dreams of donating 100 units of blood were dashed, but thanks to those who gave, she realized her dream that day. The 93 units she has personally given over the years plus the 36 honorary units donated in her name that day brings her total to 129 pints. Thank you!
Since Judy has been diagnosed, she and Everett have accrued astronomical medical costs. If you would like to shoot a word of encouragement or a donation as an expression of your love to help curb those costs, you can send a check to the Quackenbushes to 318 Bovie Hill Road, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090 or you can donate through the Go Fund Me page that is set up called Helping-Judy-Q.
Thank you, Judy, for your dedication to blessing others over the years by donating blood. May God multiply His blessings to you and heal you.
Our next community blood drive is scheduled for Monday, April 3, from 1 to 6 at Hoosick Falls Community Alliance Church. You never know when the need might hit close to home. We never would have dreamed that 2 of my immediate family members would require a total of 14 units of blood in 2016. Won’t you consider making an appointment today by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS?
