Hoosick Falls Takes First In Class C Tournament

The HFCS wrestling team scored 202 points to take the Class C championship on Saturday at Coxsackie-Athens High School. Hadley-Lazurne/Lake George scored 186.5 for second and Mechanicville/Stillwater came in third with a score of 171.[private]Tamarac (143), Corinth (115), Granville (115) rounded out the top six teams. The Panthers will send 10 wrestlers to the state qualifiers.

Hoosick Falls had one individual champion, Gabe Fisher pinned teammate Zoe Gress in the 106 weight class. Other wrestlers making the finals were Matthew LaPorte (113), Bryan Thomas (182) and Jake Pine (195). LaPorte lost by decision to Scott Nappi of Corinth, 4-0, Thomas was pinned by HL/LG’s Mike Sutliff and Granville’s Jody Hermance decisioned Jake Pine, 4-2.
