Girls Finish Regular Season With Wins

HF 65 – Spa Catholic 35

Tuesday, February 14 at SC. HF 15-4, L 14-3; SC 6-14, L 3-13. Kelly Pine scorched the nets for 27 points and Loren Thayne hauled in 13 rebounds to lead the Panthers to a big win over the Saints.[private]Leading by just three at 9-6 after the first quarter, the Ladies outscored the Saints 22-12 in the second to get out to a 13 point halftime lead. The Ladies then scored 34 second half points while holding the Saints to 17 to grab the win. Thayne added 16 points and Liz Ryan chipped in 11.

HF 77 – Mechanicville 34

Friday, February 10 at HFCS. HF 14-4, L 12-3; M 12-8, L 10-6. On Senior night, the Panthers mauled the Red Raiders by jumping out to a 24-9 first quarter lead, then scoring 14 or more points in each of next three quarters.

While doing that they held the Raiders to single digit scoring in all but the second quarter, when they allowed ten points. Eight of nine Panthers scored. Kelly Pine dropped in 18 points and hauled in nine rebounds. Liz Ryan, Logan Thayne and Sydney Miller each had 12 points and Eliza Whitman had 11. Thayne was the top rebounder for the game with 12.

Six seniors will be leaving the team in 2017. Players Ally Burdick, Sydney Miller, Lizza Ryan, Kelly Pine, bookkeeper Megan Henry and videographer Kaitlin Backes. All will be missed and each was a valuable asset to the team.

The team will move into sectional play this week. Seeding and schedules will be available later this week. [/private]
