Thursday: Today I went to Cheshire with my two-horse team to the Universalist convention and ordination. Mr. Manly was ordained. I carried my two oldest daughters and carried Mr. Gilbert Green’s wife. We took dinner at one Mrs Woolrott’s that lately turned from a Baptist to a Universalist. Charlotte had her parasoll handle mended at Hancock Village at Mr. Delanie’s Shop. Today Mr. James Chapman worked for me towards his rent. He chopped wood in the woods, fenced stacks and drew in rowing with my two sons helping him.
Saturday: Today I went to Pittsfield with a load of nearly 25 bushel apples and sold most of them at 50 cts per bushel, and I bought tea and sugar.

I went with my own team to Troy and Wm Chapman went with us to drive the team home and we carried his son Aaron that was going west. I paid six dollars and eighty eight cts for one barrel of flour and two dollars for one sack of salt and 25 cts for two pounds loaf sugar and sent home with my team by Mr. Wm Chapman and I handed him 27 cts to pay his stable for the team and gates. I then bargained with Capt. Wm Matthews for passage on his boat Halaman at one dollar per head to Rome and about nearly sundown Capt Matthews took us into his skiff and carried us across the river and put us onto his boat and the boat went out of west Troy and travelled about 15 miles tonight and laid up til morning, and then we went on. We had a cabin full of passengers, I will mention a few of their names: Mrs. Story and daughter Miss Isabella Dewey and daughter, Mr. Baker and wife and children and others. Aaron B. Chapman went with us and boarded with us most of the time.
Tuesday: We passed through Schenectady about noon and the boat lay up and I bought some fruit, peaches, melons and lemons, all to the amount of fifty cts. [/private]
