While firefighters and rescue personnel were busy at the Grafton fire scene, two cars collided head on along the northern section of Babcock Lake Road. [private]The Grafton Rescue Squad and units from the Pittstown Fire Department were released from the fire to respond.
The Petersburgh and Mohawk ambulances were also dispatched. State Police said that Grafton transported two victims to the Southwest Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Medical personnel from Petersburgh treated the third injured person at the scene. Troopers say weather conditions were the major contributing factor to the crash, the snow covered road had turned to a sheet of ice. They believe the southbound Hyundai slid across lanes striking the northbound Toyota, with both ending up on the west shoulder of the road.[/private]
