The students at St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls created sun catchers, God’s eyes, and cards for the veterans at the Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt. On Monday, November 7, Mrs. Christy and her second and third graders visited the veterans in Bennington and handed out one to each veteran. They also had the opportunity to visit Mrs. Christy’s uncle, Ted Grinko, who served in WWII. He answered the children’s questions about his time in the army and they were very glad to meet him. They found out he was a translator of Morse code — a different kind of language that he had to learn in 15 weeks! It was a great visit and the children were happy to show their appreciation of the service the veterans have given to all of us.
