Sydney said, “It is nice to be recognized for the hard work and dedication I’ve put into the sport.”
The television station’s program recognizes players who are stars on and off the field, who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and perseverance in school and the community. Athletes can be nominated for this honor by coaches, athletic directors, and fans.
Sydney, who values being part of a team, said, “This is an honor for me, but I also am proud that it brings recognition to our team. This segment helps show everyone the success of our field hockey program at Hoosick Falls.”
The program recognizes not only the best athletes but also those who dedicate time to youth groups, volunteer organizations or have overcome a personal obstacle or illness.
Sydney is graduating this year but is a role model for younger players. Her advice to them is to “never get discouraged.” She continues, “If you aren’t the best on the team, stick with it. Work hard, and all of that hard work will pay off.”[/private]
