Presentation On Bennington Battlefield Archaeology

The results of a study of Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site will be presented to the public on Friday, November 4 from 7 to 9 pm in the auditorium of the Hoosick Falls Junior/Senior High School located at 21187 NY-22, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.[private]The free program will include highlights of archaeological findings as well as historical research. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and offer comments at the conclusion of the presentation. In the fall of 2015 the battlefield, operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, was the recipient of an American Battlefield Protection Program Grant. The grant allowed for a cultural resource survey of the site. Techniques including metal detection, ground penetrating radar and limited “ground truthing,” or excavation, were employed in conjunction with archival research both in the US and abroad.
